This Christmas

While all the rest are singing carols,
With wan smiles  Scotch-taped on
Watching hour and hours of Farrell
And the Clauses and elves falling down
We’re sitting at sunset exhausted
from all the crazy run-around stress

And though it’s trite to say we’ve lost it
It’s certainly a meaning we have missed
This Christmas, I want to watch you live
This time, I want to find out
that it really is more blessed to give
This Christmas, I want to make it true
This Christmas, I want to be with you

No surprise that the western world
is looking for some new holidays
We can’t just learn about the others
We are trying to throw this one away

If we trade it out, one for the other
without trading in this hard heart
Then another reason isn’t a good offer
because we’ll just keep playing our part

This Christmas, I want to watch you live
This time, I want to find out
that it really is more blessed to give
This Christmas, I want to make it true
This Christmas, I want to be with You
